Help: if you listen

Everything here is about using Ferality as a listener. If you make things, there is a separate page for that.

Getting in

Do I need an account?

To browse and play, no. The catalogue is open, and so is every published work.

An account lets you follow creators, like things, and leave notes under them. Accounts are invite-only while the site is small. There is a link to the Discord on the support page if you want to ask for one.

Why invite-only?

Because it is one person running this, and a door that anyone can walk through is a door that needs a moderation team behind it. It will open when that is true.

How old do I have to be?

Eighteen, everywhere, no exceptions. Ferality hosts explicit audio.

The acknowledgment on the door is exactly that: an acknowledgment. It is not an age check, and nobody should mistake it for one.

Listening

Do I need a toy?

No. Most of the catalogue is audio, and it is audio first. A haptic score is a layer that some works carry on top, and when one does it says so on the card. The kind reads show rather than audio.

Everything plays perfectly well with nothing connected.

Is it free?

Yes. There is nothing to buy, no card, and no subscription. If that ever changes it will be said plainly and in advance.

Does the player follow me around the site?

Yes. It keeps playing while you move between pages, it remembers where you got to in a long piece, and it has a sleep timer that fades out rather than cutting off. Volume and mute are remembered too.

Pressing Play on a card plays from there onwards: the list you are looking at becomes the queue, in the order shown.

Your toy

Which toys work?

Any Lovense toy, through the Lovense app, which is the route that works on an iPhone.

In a browser with Web Bluetooth (Chrome, Edge or Opera, on a computer or an Android phone) you can also pair directly from the browser, which covers a much wider range of toys. And Intiface covers wider still: a free desktop app that knows hundreds of toys across most makers, and works even in browsers that have no Bluetooth at all.

Does this work on iPhone?

Yes, through the Lovense app route. Safari has never shipped Web Bluetooth on any iOS version, and on an iPhone every browser is Safari underneath, so no app you install makes direct pairing possible there. Scan the code with the Lovense app instead.

Does Bluetooth work on my phone?

On Android, yes. Chrome has Web Bluetooth and pairs straight from the browser, exactly as a computer does. On an iPhone, no, for the reason above.

How do I connect?

Start something playing, and the player at the bottom of the screen grows a toy button. Pairing lives there. The player outlives the page you are on, so you pair once and it follows you around the site.

Three routes: the Lovense app (any phone, including iPhone), Bluetooth straight from the browser (Chrome, Edge or Opera, on a computer or an Android phone), or Intiface (a free desktop app, the widest hardware reach of the three).

How do I stop it?

Three ways, any of which work on their own: press stop on the work, close the page, or hit Stop in the Lovense app. Nothing can drive your toy once the page is gone.

It feels out of step, or it stops partway

The score runs off your browser’s own clock, not off a connection, so a stutter in your network does not pull it out of time. If it stops entirely:

  • the toy may have gone to sleep, so wake it and pair again
  • on the Lovense route, check the toy is still showing as connected in the Lovense app
  • reload the page and pair again; nothing is lost
What happens when I leave?

The toy stops. Nothing can drive it once the page is gone.

Finding things

What is the difference between a vibe and a warning?

A vibe is what you are in the mood for. Picking one narrows the catalogue towards it.

A warning is what you cannot have tonight. Ticking one narrows the catalogue away from it. That is why they are never drawn the same way. An avoided warning goes red and struck through.

Why does a work list “Contains: …”?

So you know before you press play, not after. Content warnings sit above the play button on purpose.

What is F4M?

Pairing notation: who is speaking, and who they are speaking to. F4M is a female speaker for male listeners, F4A is a female speaker for anyone, and so on. It is the notation the gonewildaudio community already uses; Ferality did not invent it.

Patterns do not carry one, because a vibration curve has nobody to address.

What are the tags on a script?

The writer’s own words for what it is. They are an open vocabulary, not a fixed list, so they go places the other filters cannot. “No Wakener” is useful precisely because it is rare. Click one to find everything else carrying it.

Privacy

Is my listening tracked?

Plays are counted by browser, never tied to your account. There is no listening history here, which means there is none to hand to anyone, and none to leak. If anything ever needs per-listener history it will ask first, explicitly.

Does my toy reach your servers?

It depends which route you paired with, and the page tells you which one you are on:

  • Bluetooth: your toy talks to your browser and nothing else. Nothing about it reaches us.
  • Lovense app: the commands relay through Lovense’s own service, on the creator’s account with them. That is how it reaches an iPhone at all.
What do you store about me?

The short version: as little as will do the job. The long version is on the listener privacy page.

Something is wrong

Something broken, or something missing? There is a form, no account needed, and it fills in the page you were on. Everything else is on the support page.

Making things instead? The creator answers are here.
